Youth Presence is a registered charity and funded through charitable grants, donations and individual giving.

We aim to respond to the needs and experiences of children and young people.

Youth Presence is a new charity, registered in September 2020. We will work with the young in their communities and schools, offering them opportunities that are focused on acceptance, support and continual encouragement. We will offer a variety of engaging opportunities, projects and programmes. We aim to provide a needs-led, professional and accountable service. We work with a range of local and national organisations.

On week eight of our Year 6 Transition Project, ou

On week eight of our Year 6 Transition Project, our session was called ‘Climb’. The focus was to identify any obstacles we felt there would be between being in Year 6 and moving to Year 7. We had a lot of fun completing an obstacle course. We spent time reflecting on any worries or obstacles we felt there might be when moving to secondary school and discussed together how we can overcome those obstacles. To finish our time, we got creative and made bookmarks. We wrote onto the bookmarks important messages and tips that will help us as we move towards our new schools in September.

Last night, Youth Presence hosted the first cross-town Transition Project fun session at the RSPCA Westmorland Branch Hall. Those young people who we have been working with us, who are going to @qks.kendal in September came along and had a great time. Building relationships, confidence and having fun. Thanks to Lakes Sandwiches for their delicious food bags!

An amazing group of young people at @qks.kendal worked with the Youth Presence Project Worker to raise over £45 for their chosen charity @macmillancancer by planning, ordering and selling over 145 sweet bags yesterday! What an amazing group of young people! @@candycraveofficial sweets went down a treat!

The Youth Presence Saturday clubs are not on over the half-term. It has been a pleasure to meet and have fun with many young people at the @rspcawestmorland centre over the last six Saturday afternoons! Thank you to@wandfcouncil for their ongoing support. Youth Presence staff were honored to attend the 50th anniversary of The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust. A truly incredible trust, which has supported Youth Presence and countless groups in our community for 50 years. 🤩👏

Whilst it is not a numbers game for Youth Presence

Whilst it is not a numbers game for Youth Presence, it is heartening to know that we are working with over 120 young people in the Kendal area every week!

Whether it be in the @qks_kendal Pastoral Hub, our town wide Year 6 Transition Project at Dean Gibson RC, St Mark's School, Natland, Vicarage Park CE, St Thomas's CE, Stramongate Primary Schools or at our weekly Saturday club at the @rspcawestmorland branch, Youth Presence is making a difference in the lives of young people in our community.

This week on our Year 6 Transition Project, we have been thinking about the word ‘brave’. We have discussed what being brave means and the qualities associated. Children designed their own everyday superhero, adding all their ideas for how their superhero can be brave. Qualities included courage, asking for help, being kind, reaching out to others and most importantly, being our true selves. We also had time to identify our own superpowers… all the qualities we already have that can help us through times of change.
